Comparative Product Life Cycle AssessmentCPG has implemented an ISO 14040 Compliant Comparative Product Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Scranton Products PVC materials. LCA is a “cradle-to-grave” evaluation process that begins by gathering the raw materials to create the product and ends at the point when all materials are returned to the earth after a product's useful life. LCA evaluates all life stages of a product from the perspective that they are interdependent, meaning that one operation leads to the next. LCA enables all cumulative environmental impacts to be estimated along with considering the resultant impacts from all stages in the product life cycle. This evaluation includes topics not typically considered in traditional analysis, e.g., raw material extraction, material transportation, ultimate product disposal, etc. However, by including impacts throughout the product life cycle, LCA will provide a comprehensive view of the environmental aspects of a product or process and detail a more accurate picture of true environmental trade-offs in the product and process selection. |
